Live Music Photos – 2011
So, that's it for 2011 - I had dozens of photos published in Australia, The UK and US, had photos on album covers, book jackets and DVDs, (The Gin Club, Public Enemy, Robert Forster, Powderfinger and more) sold a heap of prints, licensed photos to a TV production, a film and a few ads, and was featured on an ABC TV show. I shot 168 bands at 96 shows, at 19 venues plus one library and one zoo, and shot portraits for a bunch of bands.

Kurt Vile – 8th Dec 2011
Kurt Vile played at Woodland the other day, supported by Kellie Lloyd and Blank Realm. Mr Vile's album 'Smoke Ring For My Halo' has been getting a LOT of plays around the house lately, so I was keen to see the show. Dunno why Woodland runs so late on weeknights, but it seemed the crowd thinned out after midnight, and most of the oxygen seemed to leave the room at the same time, weird. Still, his band was great, and the songs from the album held up live, I enjoyed it, you probably would too, check him out next time why dontcha : )

The Drones – 28th October 2011
The Drones played The Hifi last night, I've really loved the last couple of Gareth Liddiard solo shows I've seen, but there's just something about The Drones live, it's ragged, loud and completely transfixing.
This was one of the last shows of this tour, make sure you see them next time, they're a very special band.

Gareth Liddiard – The Spiegeltent – 14/9/2011
Gareth Liddiard played the Spiegeltent in Brisbane as part of the Brisbane Festival, great show, funny, touching and mind blowingly brilliant in equal doses, marred only by the super annoying little fella to my left who just. kept. talking. Arghh. Loads of songs from Strange Tourist, plus a bunch of Drones songs - Jezabel gets me every time.

Bigsound Live 7th and 8th September 2011

I just spent the last 4 days shooting Bigsound 2011, along with Elleni Toumpas and Kristen Ashton. Massive credit to the organisers, it all went so smoothly, 3 days of conferences/panels, 600+ conference delegates, 8 venues, 80+ bands and 3000+ Bigsound live punters. Tym Guitars – Shot for Veri.Live
I took some photos at Tym Guitars (5E Winn street Fortitude Valley, Brisbane) for Issue 3 of Veri.Live back in May, the issue just came out, so I thought I'd share some of the photos here.
Tym Guitars is a great store, do go check it out when you get the chance, if you have the slightest interest in guitars or music in general you'll absolutely love it.
I've know Tim for ages, he's an amazing guy with seemingly boundless energy, he's a huge supporter of local music, and has an enthusiasm for what he does that's just inspirational. As well as making custom guitars, effects and amps Tym guitars sells top quality gear, and accessories, does repairs, sells records and books, hires out practice spaces and gear and runs instore shows too. Recording facilities are on the way soon.
Tim's made guitars and effects for an impressive list of people from all over the world, The Hellacopters, Rocket from the Crypt, Tumbleweed, Magic Dirt, Violent Soho, The Hoodoo Gurus and loads more, but check out the story of the Fuzz Munchkin, Tim's latest custom fuzz built in collaboration with J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. The saga starts here, it's a great story. Splendour in the Grass 2011 Photos
A 3 day 25km uphill dusty hike with a 15kg pack through a herd of 30,000 people, 2500 photos, 25 bands, 4 stages, 3 beers, 6 panadol, 16 earplugs and Splendour is done for my 11th time. Personal highlight? Thanks Mogwai for cleaning my brain post Kanye, "Mogwai Fear Satan" made everything else seem just a bit silly really.
