The Hold Steady – 9th of March 2011
The Hold Steady played at The Zoo in Brisbane to a packed, sweaty and happy crowd, there was a lot of rock, an awful lot of pointing and a fun time was had by all. Check them out when you can, they're a brilliant rock and roll band.
I last saw The Hold Steady at the Laneway Festival in 2009 , there was a bunch of pointing going on then too...
.Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Tons of Hold Steady goodness right over here : http://theholdsteady.net/ I shot some video of "Stay Positive" the sound is all blown out to hell, but you'll get the vibe, and see some absolutely top notch pointing : )

Black Mountain – 18th Feb 2011
Black Mountain played a hell of a show at The Zoo last Thursday, I loved it. Big, loud, heavy psych grooves from the band with ethereal vocals and a haunting stage presence courtesy of Amber Webber.
They're touring right now, go see them! Two more shows in Australia, then Europe. All their dates are listed here: http://www.myspace.com/blackmountain This should convince you : )

Black Mountain's most recent album "Wilderness Heart" is great, you can buy it, along with their self titled debut LP and 'In The Future' all on vinyl straight from their label Jagjaguwar's distributor here. Go!
Future of the Left – 3rd of January 2011
Future of the Left played at The Zoo last night, great show, but I think I'm still dehydrated...
There's a full set right over here : Future of the Left on flickr
Mark Lanegan – 6th July 2010 – The Zoo
Mark Lanegan played at The Zoo on the 6th of July, very cool show. I've seen him play several times, previously at the Zoo in 2007 with The Twilight Singers and at Splendour 2009 as part of The Gutter Twins, again with Greg Dulli from Afghan Wigs. He played at the Zoo a few years earlier too, with a full band, don't remember the date. Mark Lanegan's always a challenge to shoot, he does like it dim. I used a monopod for these, haven't had to do that in a while..click these photos to see bigger versions.
The low lighting makes perfect sense with the show though, he has a massive voice, and a rare prescence as a performer. People don't chit chat when he sings, that voice just commands your attention.
If you're not familiar with his work you really should become acquainted. Here is as good a place to start as any I guess: http://www.myspace.com/marklanegan Tons of info here too.
